Atlanta Officials Trying Again for Streetcar Grant – 11Alive.com | WXIA | Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA — The city of Atlanta is working with MARTA and the downtown Community Improvement District on a scaled-back application for federal funding of a planned streetcar line.The Atlanta City Council voted 11-3 Tuesday to seek $52.1 million for a 2.6-mile system that would run from Centennial Olympic Park and the historic district along Edgewood and Auburn avenues to the King Center. The federal money would be matched with $10 million from the city and $10 million from the downtown CID.
